Meet your teacher
I began my journey teaching Dutch after receiving my Master’s degree in the Dutch Language from the University of Leiden. Since then I have honed my passion into a thriving business with a 5-star google rating, teaching first natives and then people from all over the world the language I love. I’ve helped over 300 students from nearly 50 different countries pass the inburgering exams, improve their conversational skills, raise their confidence levels and achieve a variety of other individual Dutch language learning goals.
"Lessons feel like a chat with a friend."
He is very easy to talk to and makes the lessons feel like a chat with a friend. He is very skilled at ensuring mistakes get corrected and he guides my learning with explanations that help me improve my knowledge of spoken grammar and sentence structures.

FAQS
-
The majority of my students opt for online lessons, which are both convenient and effective. Through the years I have developed a highly productive online lesson format with a high success rate for preparing my students for reading, writing and speaking exams and improving conversation skills.
For some students, face-to-face lessons are a better fit for their learning style and others find in-person lessons a welcome break from a day full of online meetings.
-
Study time between lessons is encouraged but not required. My lessons feel like lively conversations and are designed to enhance your speaking, reading and listening skills quickly. Following each lesson, I will send you lesson notes and a vocabulary list. I recommend that you set aside time to review these before our next meeting. If you have additional time, I will provide you with reading and translation assignments to enhance your reading and writing fluency.
-
Usually not. During each lesson I create notes of vocabulary and grammar concepts introduced in the lesson, along with answers to questions that come up. These notes serve as personalized study materials. I’ve found this method to be more effective in helping students reach their goal of conversational fluency than text books which take a one-size-fits-all approach. I also like to offer flexible reading and translation assignments which are based on your personal interests. If you would like to use a text book, based on your Dutch level and learning style, I can recommend one that we can work with.
-
Lesson frequency will depend on your schedule, goals and learning style. The standard is 1 hour per week, however 2 hours per week is recommended for those with upcoming exam dates or those who wish to develop a high level of fluency quickly.
“I would recommend him to anyone, no matter your style or experience.”
What I appreciate the most is that every lesson I have is unique to me, my needs and also the type of words/conversations I want to have. It's at my pace but with enough of a challenge to keep me engaged. I would recommend him to anyone, no matter your style or experience.

Why private lessons?
Flexibility. You can take a trip, get the flu, or have a busy week at work without “missing class” or falling behind. I offer lessons 7 days a week with start times from 9:00 - 21:00.
Fast results. Private lessons allow you to focus on what’s relevant to you. This means that you will more quickly be able to speak Dutch in your everyday life.
True immersion. Much time in group lessons is spent practicing with other students who are also new to Dutch. With private lessons you have the full attention of an experienced, native speaker for the whole lesson, every lesson.
You don’t fit the norm. Students come to me with a variety of levels, talents and shortcomings and I quickly tailor the lessons to their needs. Whether you’re a language nerd, a total newbie, or a particularly fast or slow learner, I can help.
The bottom line is that you will learn more, learn faster and learn more thoroughly in a 1-on-1 or duo lesson setting. So if your goals lie beyond a simple introduction to the language, book a free trial lesson today.
