5 reasons why private Dutch lessons are the best way to Achieve Fluency
Over the years I have helped countless students work towards their goal of becoming fluent in Dutch, and early on I realized that private lessons are by far the best way for adults to work toward their goal of fluency in Dutch or any new language.
Here are my top 5 reasons why:
1. It’s all about you. We all know that no two people learn in exactly the same way. We each have quirks, preferences, talents and needs that can best be met in a 1-on-1 setting with a professionally trained teacher who is experienced in helping a variety of students achieve their goals.
2. Relevance is key. Have you ever noticed that children learning a language ask for and easily remember words related to the things that pique their interest the most? It should come as no surprise that, with adults, it’s not much different! I believe in achieving fluency by building steadily on vocabulary that is relevant to your life, daily experiences and individual interests.
3. You practice with a native speaker. Key to achieving fluency is interaction with a native speaker who is adept at making helpful and timely corrections. A private lesson setting is the best way to achieve this. Group lessons require you to spend time doing assignments with classmates who do not speak Dutch well yet themselves, but in private lessons your time can be more efficiently used. You will have my dedicated attention and interation throughout the entire lesson.
4. You stay engaged. Another way that private lessons help you to achieve fluency is that they inspire a higher level of engagement. Instead of listening to a lecture, taking notes and being called on now and then, your participation will be ongoing throughout the lesson. I will take notes for you, edit them and send them to you after each lesson. This means you are free to stay focused and immersed in the lesson.
5. Life happens. Life happens and you won’t always be able to make it to class, but with private lessons you can never fall behind. We will pick up right where you left off. Through the years I’ve noticed how important flexible lesson times are in helping my busy students stay motivated on their journey to Dutch fluency.
